Elizabeth Anne Holmes is an American biotechnology entrepreneur. She was named the youngest and wealthiest self-made billionaire by Forbes in 2015 on her $9 billion company value but they revised her net worth to zero after she was charged with fraud and featured her on the article; The Worlds 19 Most Disappointing Leaders.

She started her first business while in high school selling C++ compilers to Chinese universities while learning mandarin Chinese at home. The US Securities and Exchange Commission in 2018 pressed charges against the company, Elizabeth and her chief operating officer for fraud, false and inaccurate claims and collecting over $700 million from investors on the accuracy of the blood testing technology.

She had to return 18.9 million worth of shares to the company, pay $500,000 fine, withdraw her voting power of the company and banned from working as a director of any public company for ten years. In 2018, she was charged on fraud by federal grand jury and the case ended in 2022 where she was convicted of defrauding investors and was sentenced to 11 years at Federal Prison Camp, Bryan. The court ordered her and then partner Balwani, to pay $452 million to the fraud victims as restitution. Employees came out to say how she would fire anyone who tried to raise concerns about the misconduct in the company.

Elizabeth had the support of influential people like George Shultz, James Mattis and Henry Kissinger who served as officials in the presidential cabinet. Elizabeth broke up with her office boyfriend after the Theranos case and married William Evans, a hotel heir, in 2019 and they have two children.
